Drain Cleaning in Canton and Ball Ground, GA
Drain cleaning that fixes the clog, not just the symptom
A slow kitchen sink, a tub that stands in water, a toilet that gurgles when the washer drains. Performance Plumbing clears drains across Cherokee County every day, and the job is not finished when the water goes down. It is finished when we know why it stopped, so it does not stop again next month. No service call fee for the visit, a flat rate quote before any work starts, and a real person on the phone 24 hours a day for the ones that cannot wait.
What we clear
- Kitchen sink drains: grease, food and soap that build up past the trap where a store bought snake cannot reach.
- Bathroom sinks, tubs and showers: hair and soap scale in the trap and the branch line.
- Clogged toilets that a plunger will not move, including the ones caused by wipes, toys and what the kids flushed. See clogged toilet repair.
- Floor drains and laundry drains that back up when the washer empties.
- Main line clogs where every drain in the house slows at once, which is a sewer line, not a sink. See sewer line repair.
- Hydro jetting for grease, scale and roots that a cable only pokes a hole through. See hydro jetting.
- Camera inspection after the clog is cleared when it keeps coming back. See sewer camera inspection.
Try this first, then call
We would rather you not pay for a visit you do not need. For a single slow bathroom sink or tub, a plastic trap snake from any hardware store pulls the hair out of the stopper and the first few inches of pipe, and that fixes a good share of them. A plunger with a real seal clears most toilet clogs. What we ask you not to do is pour chemical drain cleaner down the pipe. It rarely reaches the clog, it damages older pipe, and it sits in the trap waiting for whoever opens it next, which is usually our technician. If the simple fix does not work, or the problem is in more than one drain, that is when to call.
The signs it is time to call a plumber
- A drain that clears and clogs again within weeks.
- More than one drain in the house slowing at the same time.
- Gurgling or bubbling from a drain or toilet when another fixture runs.
- A sewage or rotten smell from a drain.
- Water backing up into a tub or shower when the toilet flushes or the washer drains.
- Fruit flies around a drain that is not being used.
The first three usually mean the clog is deeper than the trap or that the main line is involved. Those are the ones that come back until someone finds the cause.
How we clear a drain
We start with the right tool for the line, not the biggest one. A small cable with the right head for a bathroom branch, a larger machine for a kitchen line or a main, and hydro jetting when the problem is grease, scale or roots that a cable cannot remove. When a clog is in the main line or keeps returning, we run a camera after clearing it to see what caused it, because a cable through a root mat or a bellied pipe is a temporary fix and we would rather tell you that than keep coming back. Every visit ends with the line flowing and a plain explanation of what we found.
Keeping Cherokee County drains clear
Grease, fats and oil go in the trash, not the sink, even with hot water. A mesh strainer in the kitchen and a hair catcher in the shower stop most of what we pull out of drains. Only toilet paper and what came out of you goes in the toilet; wipes labeled flushable are the single most common thing we pull from Cherokee County main lines. Run hot water down the kitchen drain for a minute after dishes. Pour a kettle of boiling water down a rarely used floor drain now and then to keep the trap full and the smell out. Homes that have had a main line clog benefit from a yearly hydro jetting before the holidays, when the kitchen works hardest.
What drain cleaning costs, and why we do not print a number
A bathroom sink cleared through the trap is not the same job as a kitchen line cabled from the roof or a main line jetted and camera checked. We tell you which one you have and quote it flat rate, in writing, before any work starts. There is no service call fee for the visit. If you decide to hold off, you owe us nothing.
Where we clean drains
We work out of Ball Ground and cover Cherokee County every day: Canton and BridgeMill, Holly Springs, Hickory Flat, Woodstock, Waleska and Ball Ground itself, plus Jasper and Big Canoe in Pickens County and the Cumming side of Forsyth County. Kennesaw and Milton when the schedule allows. We are not the right call for Swainsboro, Carrollton or Sandy Springs, whatever the search result said.

Drain cleaning questions, answered
Why does my drain keep clogging after I snake it?
Because the snake pokes a hole through the clog instead of removing it, or the real problem is past where a hand snake reaches: grease in the branch line, roots or a belly in the main line. A camera after clearing shows which one it is.
Is chemical drain cleaner safe to use?
We ask you not to. It rarely reaches the clog, it damages older pipe and trap seals, and it leaves caustic liquid sitting in the trap for the next person who opens it. A plastic trap snake or a plunger is safer and usually works better.
All my drains are slow at the same time. What does that mean?
The main sewer line, not the individual drains. Something is blocking the line between the house and the street or the septic tank. That is a same day call, before it becomes a backup.
What is the difference between snaking and hydro jetting?
A cable breaks through a clog. Hydro jetting uses high pressure water to scour the whole inside of the pipe, removing grease, scale and roots instead of punching through them. Jetting is what we use when a line has clogged more than once.
Do you charge a service call fee for drain cleaning?
No. We come out, look at the drain, and give you a flat rate quote before any work starts. If you decide to hold off, you owe us nothing.
Can you clear a drain the same day?
Usually, and a backed up main line is treated as same day. A real person answers the phone 24 hours a day so the call gets scheduled, not left on a voicemail.
Why does my drain smell?
Either the trap has dried out, which a kettle of water fixes, or there is a buildup of organic material in the drain line, which cleaning fixes. A sewage smell from several drains at once points to the main line or a vent problem.
Are flushable wipes really a problem?
Yes. They do not break down the way toilet paper does and they are the most common thing we pull out of main lines in Cherokee County. Toilet paper only.
Do you clean drains for businesses too?
Yes. Restaurants, offices and commercial buildings across Cherokee County, including scheduled grease line jetting. See commercial plumbing.
Which areas do you cover?
All of Cherokee County, including Ball Ground, Canton, Holly Springs, Hickory Flat, Woodstock and Waleska, plus Jasper and Big Canoe in Pickens County and the Cumming area in Forsyth County.
